Josefina Aguilar, Ceramicist, National Treasure
You may have seen the small ceramic figures of women selling flowers or Virgin Marys, Frida Kahlo and many others. They look rustic, simple, colorful, beautiful, they are so much more.
Josefina Aguilar has been creating "little bits of clay" since she was 6 year old. She was taught and mentored by her mother and grand mother, guiding her development as she reached international acclaim in her 20's. Now a national treasure along with her talented sisters working on their own styles, she has created a wide variety of work, displayed in museums, desired by collectors, she works in the family compound in Ocotlan de Morelos in the Sate of Oaxaca.
