Our love of the Art, Artists, and Artisans of Mexico
In pre-Hispanic Mexico, the Pochteca (POH-SH-Tay-Ka) were professional, long distance Aztec merchants who provided the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlán, and other major Aztec city states with exotic luxury items from faraway lands.
We hope to reflect this legacy by providing our services as modern Pochteca. We travel to a variety of regions in Mexico to purchase beautiful art directly from world renowned artisans, meet new artists, and explore their workshops. Our art comes from the Yucatán, Oaxaca, regions surrounding Mexico City, Zacatecas, Jalisco, Michoacán and Baja California.
We advocate for the artists we work with by providing grants and scholarships to younger artisans to support the emergence of new art and artists in Latin American.
