Our names are Bruce and Laura Limon Johanessen. In 2012, we decided to start an on-line business, “Wandering Gypsy” Our goal in starting our business was to bring you and showcase the beautiful works of art made by exceptional Mexican artists.

In order to better reflect our role in promoting the beauty and originality of Mexican Art. We have changed the store name to “POCHTECA”. In pre-hispanic Mexico the Pochteca, (pronounced POH-SH-Tay-Ka) were professional, long distance Aztec merchants who provided the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan and the other major Aztec city states with exotic luxury items from faraway lands. We feel this name change reflects a more accurate aspect of our business by continuing to honor the legacy of the “Pochtecas”. We are the modern day Pochteca. We will continue to bring the beautiful artistry of Mexico’s amazing artists to your doorstep.

We travel to purchase beautiful art directly from world renowned artisans and to discover new artists. In order to connect with Mexican artists and artisans from many different regions of Mexico, we travel to meet them in their homes. We have visited the Yucatan, Oaxaca, the Regions surrounding Mexico City, Zacatecas, Jalisco, Michoacan and Baja California. We continue to search for known and new artists, and bring the best of Mexico, to you, our customers here in our Gallery.
